Why we do what we do...

Prior to launching PP&EP, Inc. in 2010, Steve led the Office of Occupational Health and Environment at RTI International from 2007 – 2009 and was their senior industrial hygienist the previous three years.   RTI offered extensive exposure to hazards unique to an independent non-profit research organization engaged predominantly in government supported grants and contracts.

Prior to joining RTI, Steve worked for GlaxoSmithKline as an industrial hygienist from 1989 – 2004.   Steve owes an incredible amount to the people and management that he was privileged to work with and get to know over those fifteen years.  Many of the professionals in Steve’s current network were forged during the Glaxo, GlaxoWellcome and GlaxoSmithKline days.

Steve spent the earliest part of his career in the trenches.  Internships, summer jobs and work that he found upon moving to North Carolina exposed him to industrial hygiene field work in oil refining, at a blood bank, at a chemical plant, in asbestos removal, and measuring residential radon levels.  When is father was tragically killed in a tractor roll-over accident at his mom and dad’s home when Steve was only 25, he began working with a very different attitude towards safety (and life in general.)
